All eye tests start with an examination of the external eye surface. The optician looks for any change that may affect the vision or health of the eyes, now or in the future. They also makes sure that the main structures are moving and working correctly.
Next, the vision of the eye is checked to see if it needs assistance. If so, a series of lenses are selected to get the best vision possible. There’s a vast array of instruments used in the process, but as always, the expertise and experience of the optician is essential.
The examiner also checks the internal structures of the eye and measures the various pressures. And where there’s a risk of future disease, they take a photograph of the inside layers and keep them on file for possible later reference.
